Launching the SeaMoor Lotto
South Hams
District Council and West Devon Borough Council are calling out to all
community groups, charities, and good causes in the area who might be
interested in being part of a new council run Lottery initiative. The SeaMoor
Lotto is a new venture which is being led by the councils to provide a way for
local good causes to raise funds. 60% of all money raised will go
towards local good causes, 20% of ticket sales will be put towards prizes and
20% will go towards the running costs. Now the council wants to hear from any
interested parties, so that they can be invited to a launch event in May and
find out how to sign up to become part of the SeaMoor Lotto. So if you are part of a charity,
community organisation, or a good cause and you would be interested to find out
how to get involved please email lotto@swdevon.gov.uk stating your cause and your contact details. We will
add you to our information list and invite you to the launch event for good

Citizens
Advice in the heart of Totnes
Citizens
Advice South Hams will be extending its existing advice services to the people
of Totnes. From Friday April 6th

their services to the Mansion in the Caring Town Information Exchange (CTIE). The new service will be open on a drop- in

Advice advisers will be on hand to talk to clients from 10.30am – 2.30pm.
Teena
Barrett, Advice Services Manager at

who are making us welcome in their space.
Our trained advisers will be on hand every Friday to help Totnes
residents with problems including housing, debt, consumer issues as well as
benefit and disability entitlement.
With demand for
advice services higher in Totnes than any other part of Devon, there’s a real
need for this service. We are delighted that funding from Totnes Town Council
is helping us to forge a new partnership with the Caring Town Information
Exchange. This can only be a good thing
for the residents of Totnes“.
Fiona Ward, from the Caring Town Information
Exchange says, "The CTIE is here to help connect local people to local
services and groups, including Citizens Advice who offer an invaluable service
for everyone in our area. We signpost a lot of people to them for practical
help with all sorts of problems. We're
very happy to help bring them into the middle of the town every Friday, making
them more accessible to those who find travelling to Follaton House
difficult. Hopefully more people will get
the help they need".
All information and advice given by Citizens Advice
South Hams is free, independent, impartial and confidential. Advice is also quality assured and meets the
Advice Quality Standard (AQS), all debt advice is regulated by the Financial

SHDC to stop accepting cash payments from April 1st
From 1 April this
year, the SHDC will no longer accept cash or cheque payments at their offices
or by post: this will give them an extra £35,00 each year to spend on frontline
services. Those residents who would like to continue paying their
Council Tax by cash or cheque can still do so by taking their bill and method
of payment to their local Post Office or PayPoint.
To find a local branch visit the Post Office, or see the Post Office or PayPoint website and type in your post code. You will then be given a map showing you all of the locations where you can pay. All you need is your Council Tax bill, the piece with the barcode on, and your method of payment.
For information on how to pay your Council Tax visit South Hams District Council or visit Pay Point or Post Office Branch Finder
